Websites for coffee shops

Website design for coffee shops

A coffee shop is found, not researched. Someone nearby searches for coffee, looks at where you are, checks whether you are open, and glances at the menu. That decision takes about ten seconds and happens on a phone held in one hand, often outdoors.

2ndfix builds websites for coffee shops and cafés around those ten seconds: are you open, where are you, what have you got, and can I bring the dog or the pram.

The most common problem we fix is not design. It is opening hours that say one thing on the site, another on Maps and something else on the door.

What coffee shops actually need from a website

Hours that are correct everywhere

One place to update your hours, including bank holidays, seasonal changes and early closes. We help keep your site and your Google listing saying the same thing, because wrong hours turn into a wasted trip and a bad review.

Menus readable on a phone

Real text, not a PDF that opens at 20 per cent zoom. Food and drink menus that load instantly, work one-handed and can be changed by you when the specials change.

Google Maps and local search

Proper LocalBusiness markup, address, directions, nearest parking and the landmark people actually use. So you appear when someone searches coffee near me.

The practical questions

Dog friendly, pram space, wifi and plugs, oat milk, gluten free, takeaway cups, card only. The answers that decide whether someone walks in.

Beans, roasts and food

What you serve and where it comes from. Bakery, brunch, lunch until when. Enough detail to be worth the walk, without a novel.

Bookings and private use

Large tables, meeting space, buyouts, catering and cake orders, with a simple enquiry route rather than a phone call at the height of service.

The menu is the website

Almost everyone who visits a coffee shop site is looking for the menu or the hours. Both should be one tap from the top of the page and should never be out of date.

  • Drinks and food as proper web pages, not scanned images or PDFs.
  • Allergen and dietary notes where they belong, next to each item.
  • Specials and seasonal items you can change yourself in a minute.
  • Kitchen times shown clearly, so nobody arrives at 2.55pm expecting brunch.
  • Photos of the room and the counter, so people recognise the place when they arrive.
  • TODO: reviews and social proof section — leave as a placeholder until you have real reviews to display.

The questions people ask before they set off

Cafés get the same messages all day, usually during the busiest part of it. They can be answered without pulling anyone off the machine.

  • Are you open now, and when does the kitchen stop.
  • Are dogs allowed, is there space for a pram, do you have wifi and plugs.
  • What is on the menu today, and what the dairy-free and gluten-free options are.
  • Missed calls and out-of-hours messages get an answer instead of silence.
  • Catering, cake and large-table enquiries captured with the details you need, ready for later.
  • A reminder to update hours before a bank holiday, so the listing and the door agree.

Short clips make people want a coffee

Coffee films well. A pour, a grinder, a tray of pastries coming out, a quiet corner in the morning light. Ten seconds does more than a paragraph about your ethos.

  • Simple phone footage shot behind the counter during a normal shift.
  • Short clips for the site, Instagram and Maps.
  • A quick walk through the room so people can see the space and the seating.
  • Seasonal menu clips when the drinks change.
  • Video on your Google Business Profile, which most cafés never add.

Common questions

Can I change the menu and hours myself?

Yes. Menus, specials and opening hours are the things that change most, so you can edit them without waiting on us. Everything else is included in the managed service.

Why does a PDF menu matter so much?

A PDF is slow, unreadable on a phone without zooming, and invisible to search. Menus as normal web pages load instantly and can be found in search results.

Will my opening hours stay right on Google?

We set your listing up properly and give you one place to change hours, including bank holidays. Mismatched hours are the single most common complaint we see for cafés.

Do I need a website if most people find me on Maps?

Maps sends people to your site for the menu and the detail, and it ranks you partly on what it finds there. The two work together, and the site is the part you own.

How long does it take?

Around two to three weeks once you have sent your menus, photos and hours. You approve the drafts as we go.
